Sailing
So much to explore, so much to experience!
Getting from place to place just using the power of the wind and the tide with no engine or physical exertion is a wonderful experience.
Using the sails, tiller and balance of the boat, people have travelled all over the world, constantly learning about how the power of the wind interacts with you, your craft, sea and land.
There is so much to learn but in doing so you can feel more at one with the natural environment.
OUR BOATS
We have 2 Wayfarer dinghies at present which can take 3 adults or 4 children with an instructor. Wayfarers have crossed the north sea to Norway and journeyed from Scotland to Iceland. In fact, myself and friend took one all around Mull some years ago which turned out to be quite an adventure!
COVID:
Unfortunately Covid restrictions mean that we cannot use our double handed boats at present but we hope to offer sessions as soon as we can
A half day session to give you a taste of sailing – we can explore the local bay and learn the basics of how the boat works including steering and trimming the sails
A full day in the boat will allow you to practice skills such as “Going about”, “Jybing” and startiing to sail upwind. The fundamentals of boat control.
A 2 day course which will give you a great base on all sorts of fundamental sailing skills. You will practice launching and landing, sailing around a triangular course and recovering an object from the water – person overboard – but not a real one!
