General information about the Trips
Will I get wet?
When launching and landing you get your feet wet, however, we aim to keep you dry the rest of the time – unless its raining, after all it is Scotland! the scenery is beautiful whatever the weather and wind and rain can make it an even more memorable trip. Its all a part of the outdoors! There is a small possibility you could capsize and we will talk you through this before we get on the water.
How big are group sizes?
Maximum number would be 6 with one instructor – we will be adhering to Covid rules set by the Scottish government.
How long are the trips?
Generally half a day or a full day – have a look at the information in the sea kayaking section of the website for details on all the trips.
What clothing do I need?
We will give you a wetsuit, spraytop, buoyancy aid and booties to wear . You need swimming costumer and T shirt to wear under the wetsuit and bring a spare fleece to wear under the spraytop, a warm hat or sun hat is also good to have.
What should I bring?
A snack, water to drink, any medication especially things like asthma inhalers, a towel in case you want to swimming afterwards.
What about the loo?
There is a real toilet at Bendoran!
Safety
I am worried about capsizing
The boats we use are very stable and we will tailor the trip to your experience and goals, therefore. it is unlikely that you will capsize. However, it sometimes happens and the instructor is there to make sure you are safe and can get you back into your boat in no time. We will give you a full brief before getting on the water and answer all your questions.
I can’t swim
That’s ok as long as you have some water confidence. you will be wearing wetsuit and bouyancy aid so will be protected from cold water and float!
I am worried about not being the right size to kayak
We have different boat options that are specially designed for different shapes and sizes, please contact us if you would like to have chat about it.
I have different needs
We will do our best to enable you to have the best trip possible. Contact us and we will plan together what sort of kit and trip will facilitate you having a great day.
I am worried about Covid rules
We will keep up to date with Scottish rules, maintain social distancing and disinfect equipment between users. If you have any signs or symptoms of covid please follow the isolation rules and cancel your booking!
Bookings
Do you offer refunds?
Yes, if we cancel the trip, for example because of extreme weather, and its not possible for you to book another one.
If you cancel the trip at least 7 days before the trip we will usually return your deposit and fee if paid in full. Its within 7 days we will retain your 30% deposit.

How will we know if weather is unsuitable?
We will contact you the day before, however, the phone signal is patchy on Mull and Iona so please make sure you can get a signal before you come on the day.
Expeditions and special trips
I really want to do a special trip, such as round Iona, could you do this?
As long as its within a mile of the shore and in suitable conditions we can take you on trips such as round Iona or even round Mull if given sufficient notice! Please contact us and we try and sort it out.
Do you need experience to go on an expedition?
Yes, you need some experience of paddling in stronger winds and waves as conditions can change quickly away from the shelter of the Bay. we can choose where to go to suit the conditions and there are some amazing wild camping spots close to here with white sand beaches and turquoise water.
